# Simple fractions

There is a few basic forms of fractions such as a **simple fraction** ( known as vulgar or a common fraction ), proper and improper fractions and mixed numbers.

**Simple fraction** is a rational number written as ½ or ,where 1 and 2 are both integers, the denominator cannot be zero. **Simple fractions** can be positive and negative or they can be proper and improper.

**Fractions** also can be classified as either proper or improper. When the **numerator** and the **dominator** are both positive the fraction is proper if the numerator is less than the denominator, and improper otherwise. Example of proper fractions are 1/2, 5/9, and for improper: 9/4 and 3/3.
